Lip augmentation surgery

Lip augmentation is especially suitable for women who are concerned about the appearance of their lips, do not like the shape of their lips, want to add volume to their lips or somehow improve their lips.

There are many methods to influence the appearance of the lips. We have permanent methods - surgery (V-Y tissue shift) and application of permanent filler materials and temporary methods - application of fillers or fat - lipofilling.

Only adult, physically and mentally healthy women of any age who have realistic expectations of the procedure should undergo lip augmentation.

Own fat - the biggest advantage is that the wrinkles are filled with material that comes from your own body, eliminating the possible reaction to foreign material. Fat is harvested similar to liposuction from various areas - thighs, abdomen, buttocks, then prepared in a tube and injected into the selected facial area. The result is visible immediately.

Lip augmentation surgery and postoperative course

All procedures are performed under local anesthesia, on an outpatient basis, without the need for hospitalization.

Lipofilling - lip augmentation using your own fat

Lipofilling involves injecting your own fat into the lips. The fat is obtained by liposuction under local anaesthesia, usually taken from the abdomen or thighs. The fat is then trimmed and injected into the lip. After the surgery, the lip is swollen for a few days, and sometimes minor bruising occurs. The removed fat can also be used to fill cheek depressions and fill in wrinkles. The disadvantage is that the fat may be partially absorbed, usually within a few months, so the procedure must be repeated. Absorption can be prevented by enriching the applied fat with so-called stem cells, which are normally contained in the fat, and by a special method we are able to obtain these cells and add them to the applied fat.

Lip augmentation with hyaluronic acid

In this method, the shape and volume of the lips are enhanced by the use of products with hyaluronic acid. This is injected into the lips in the desired volume. In most cases, no anaesthesia is required or we can apply a localised anaesthetic ointment to the lip. The procedure is quick, usually taking around 15 -30 minutes. The swelling is usually mild and goes away within 3 days. The disadvantage is the absorption of the material, so the procedure must be repeated, usually after 6-12 months.

PermaLip - lip augmentation with permanent implants

In this technique, a silicone implant is inserted into the lips through two tiny incisions at the corners of the mouth. The procedure takes about 10 to 30 minutes. The advantages are the immediate and permanent effect of lip volume increase and the fact that the implant can be removed from the lip at any time. The disadvantages are the use of foreign material, which can cause an inflammatory reaction in the surrounding tissue.

V-Y plastic surgery - lip augmentation by surgical displacement of tissue

V-Y lip augmentation is performed by surgically moving tissue from the inside of the lips. The procedure is performed under local or general anaesthesia, the operation takes about 1 hour. After the surgery, significant swelling of the lips is common and lasts about 3-5 days, thorough oral hygiene, mouth rinses, and a sparing mushy diet are necessary. Stitches are removed around the 7th day. In total, mild swelling may persist for 3 weeks to 3 months.

Risks

In general, the risks of these stitches are very small. Common ones include longer persistent swelling, small haematomas. When augmented by surgery, there may be a gaping wound in the oral cavity that heals spontaneously within 10 days. When permanent fillings are used, infection of the material may occur, necessitating its removal.
